SHIKAO, SHIKAKO & ANTON
Considering the source of the team's name, the choice of a mascot was a pretty easy one to make. "Shikao" was officially selected as the team mascot in 1991. The name is sort of a pun, using the character for "deer" and a common character found at the end of a man's name (An English equivalent would be something like "John Deer"). After a few years, as sales of merchandise bearing the picture of Shikao picked up, the Antlers were one of the first to add some "family members" to the lineup of mascots
According to the team website, Shikao married Shikako on March 2, 1997 and their son "Anton" was born on August 1, 1999 (dont ask. It's just one of those things . . .)
