Gamba Osaka v. Jeju United – preview

Gamba host Jeju United for the “2nd Leg” of their ACL group stage games, having lost out two weeks ago in Korea by 2-1 after taking the lead. Both Akira Kaji and Satoshi Yamaguchi are back in contention for selection and will bring some needed stability to an underfire defence, if selected. Debatably, even better news is that midfield general and team captain Tomokazu Myojin is back and raring to make his mark. Up front, though, Gamba coach Akira Nishino has admitted that the pairing of Lee Keun Ho and Adriano misfired in the last game, which means he may be trying something new at the top. Perhaps Shoki Hirai will get his chance, or Takashi Usami will be pushed to a more advanced – and perhaps, preferred – role.Gamba must win to stop Jeju pulling away from them. meanwhile, Melbourne will be looking for the points against Tianjin, which would really open up the group, but a win for the Australians may be to much to hope for so, a Gamba win will put former winners back into contention and the fate of their end position in the group back in their own hands. Nine points from three games is the target – let’s do it!
