194cm Havenaar Mike post-game interview
This is in Dutch with English subtitles. Interestingly, though, 194cm Mike switches to English quite often, without thinking …. must be nice to be trilingual!
Freddie Ljungberg Leaves S-Pulse for MK Dons in England?
Twitter is buzzing with stories (well 140 character comments) that Freddie Ljungberg has quit Shimizu S-Pulse for MK Dons (who will soon be known as MK? Milton Keynes? If their local MP is successful with a campaign, but I digress). It’s amazing what a one-liner on Twitter can do – without any proof anywhere …. PANIC! I’d say take THIS rumour with a pinch of salt – Twitter spreads things like wildfire these days…. this one is, so far, groundless….. another Sponichi exclusive, perhaps ![]()
Honda Deal at Lazio Falls Through – Stays at Moscow!
So it’s all over …. Keisuke Honda did NOT sign for Lazio, even though various Japanese (and world) papers and sites told you … apparently, according to my sources, Honda was OK with personal terms, contract details, but Lazio wanted to spread the payments. This appeared to be the main sticking point and, with CSKA demanding a one-time payment the deal fell through. For a “fringe” player (and recently injury prone) it seemed a decent deal for CSKA, however it happened, and Honda – according to Nikkan Sports, anyway (!) expressed a desire to go to Italy: “I want to be a Lazio player…….. my desire is clear
Verdy's Sugawara commits "professional foul" after 5 seconds, gets red card …
… and doesn’t complain about it. Friend of JSoccer.Com Tomo Sugawara won’t like to be reminded of this incident, but, hey, why not. Was discussing timing of cards… always some commentator (espeically ex-players on Premier League games!) will say the ref can’t give a card “this early” … timing of the incident should not matter – and here is proof from the J.League!
